A primary purpose of this site is to enable researchers to quickly find scales that could be useful in conducting their studies.  The main feature of that effort is the scales database, currently in development.  This version of the database is offered as a demonstration of what will be available in the future.  Feel free to give it a try by typing one or more words into the search box above.  (See these instructions for more information about how to try out the search function.)

The number of scales in this alpha version of the database is very limited. The database is solely populated at this time with about 500 consumer-related scales that were originally reviewed in either Volume 1 or 2 of the Marketing Scales Handbook series. Ultimately, the database will contain all of the scales that were reviewed in the published volumes (1 to 5), a total of well over 2,000 scales.  After that, the reviews of scales that have been produced since Volume 5 will be added to the database, increasing its size by several hundred scales a year.

Part of the challenge of completing the database is technical as we attempt to construct something that is complex and yet makes it easy for researchers to search for and select scales of interest.  Another part of the challenge is determining how to financially support the maintenance of the database and the on-going review effort.   Progress is being made on those challenges but there is no particular date in sight at this point when everything will be in place and the paid-Search function will be open for business.  Any feedback about how these challenges can be met is welcomed!
